Psychology to me is the study of human minds and their behaviors. My views on psychology have been impacted by this class in various ways. I never realized that psychology had so many different categories that are focused on totally different aspects of psychology. I also never knew how much went in to diagnosing a patient and all of the different types of psychological disorders. One thing I believe that everyone should know about psychology is that psychology is not just about treating illnesses and therapy sessions, it truly is studying the mind and brain in various ways to make the lives of individuals struggling with illnesses easier. The most important thing that I took away from this course was that there is always an explanation to unexplainable behaviors, and there are many more discoveries to be made. One of the most surprising things that I learned in my psychology course was that we do use all of our brain every single day. I had always believed the myth that we only use 10% of our brains capacity. In this psychology course I also learned that there is so much work that goes into scientific research and there are many guidelines that you must follow to complete an accurate research. The most challenging part of this semester for me would have been reading and fully understanding the research summaries. Although I do have to say that I am rather proud of myself for persevering and bettering my understanding, therefore bettering my writing when talking about scientific research. I would definitely be interested in learning more about psychological disorders and how to diagnose and treat them. Overall, there was a lot that I took from this course that will be able to make the rest of my college career much easier.
